A poem and reflection.
Procrastination Trap
I stood still like a rocky cliff,
enduring the pounding of tidal waves crashing
into the recesses of my soul.
Without realizing it, their hammering
eroded parts of me
that wouldn’t have survived the storm.
The parts of me that delayed
action and chose fear
of being overwhelmed, failure, change,
and the unknown.
The parts of me refusing to go ahead
without clear
validation that any efforts
would yield results.
In trying to make the world change,
sometimes, we forget
first to stop our world.
Only when we stop our world,
we change ourselves.
and only then can we change the world.
Victorious warriors win first
and then go to war,
while defeated warriors go to war first
and then seek…
